Millennialist teachings, International Bible Students & Jehovah's Witnesses
The dominant and central theme of Charles Taze Russell's (the first President of the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society) teachings concerned the timing, nature and purpose of Christ's second coming. His beliefs on the timing of Christ's Advent and God's overarching plan for humans had gained their first exposure in Three Worlds and the Harvest of This World, a book he paid Millerite Adventist Nelson H. Barbour to write in 1877. Russell and Barbour parted company in 1879 and from 1886 Russell began writing his own books that further developed his Millennialist beliefs.
C. T. Russell's doctrines on the Millennium followed a tradition of interpretation of Scripture that had begun in the 1st century, when Jewish rabbis sought to identify the due time for the appearance of the Messiah by interpreting the prophecy of the 70 weeks of years of Daniel 9:24–27. Their approach to prophetic interpretation was based on the Day-year principle, drawn from Ezekiel 4 and Numbers 14, in which one day in prophecy represents one year in fulfillment. Such teachings were revived and popularized in the early 19th century by American Adventist preacher William Miller.
C. T. Russell also incorporated Miller's teaching of types and antitypes, in which an actual historical situation (the type) prefigures a corresponding situation (the antitype), as well as a modified version of John Nelson Darby's teachings on dispensationalism. Russell modified Darby's teachings to create his own doctrine of parallel dispensations, in which the timing of certain events in the Jewish age are a prophetic indication of corresponding events at the close of the Gospel age. He believed the internal harmony of his "plan of the ages" proved its validity beyond reasonable doubt, noting that a change of just one year would destroy the parallelisms, and found further confirmation in internal measurements of the Great Pyramid of Giza, which he viewed as a divinely built supporting witness to the Bible.
The main points of his doctrines on Bible chronology were:
Seventy weeks of years: Russell believed the Adventist interpretation of the prophecy of the 70 weeks "until Messiah the Prince" at Daniel 9:24–27 could be used to demonstrate the validity of the day-for-a-year rule. He took 454 BCE as the date of Artaxerxes' decree to rebuild Jerusalem, and by converting 69 weeks of seven days (483 days) to 483 years arrived at 29 CE as the beginning of Jesus' ministry. Christ's crucifixion took place at the midpoint of the 70th week; the covenant with the Jewish nation remained in force another "week" (seven years) from the beginning of his ministry and its end was signified by the conversion of Cornelius in 36, when the Gospel was taken to the Gentiles.
Times of the Gentiles: Using the day-for-a-year rule, Russell adopted and adjusted the teachings of Miller and Englishman John Aquila Brown, who both taught that the chastisement of the Israelites "seven times" for their sins (at Leviticus 26) indicated a period of 2520 years—seven prophetic years of 360 days each. In Russell's chronology system the period began with the deposing of Zedekiah, the last king of Judah, an event that marked the end of the typical Kingdom of God and beginning of the consequent lease of earthly dominion to Gentile governments, as foretold in Ezekiel 21:25–27. Russell calculated that Zedekiah's removal occurred in 606 BCE, and therefore claimed the "times of the Gentiles" ran from that date until 1914, when the kingdom would be re-established on earth under Jewish leadership. The end of the Gentile times would be marked by a return of the Jews to Palestine. Russell believed the period was also one of degradation for mankind in general, which he believed was prefigured by the account in Daniel 4 of Nebuchadnezzar's dream of a great tree being cut down and restrained from growth for seven years

Did you happen to notice the inserted words of the Watchtower Society above in the bible citation of Luke 21:24?
Did you notice the Watchtower Society brazenly actually adding words to the very words of Jesus? Yes, did Jesus actually say: ". . . Jerusalem will CONTINUE TO . . . CONTINUE TO . . . be trampled on by the nations..." ???
Did he???
Or, did the Watchtower Society conveniently add those words in the verse for us, which? (See Proverbs 30:5-6; Revelation 22:18-19.)
The above is absolute proof the nefarious, villainous Watchtower Society should properly be viewed as the "Man of Lawlessness" of 2 Thessalonians 2:3-12. They are actually adding to the Word of God, right before your very eyes!
Think about it.
Therefore, the "Gentile Times" or "appointed times of the nations" did not start before . . . before Jesus uttered this most important prophecy; it did not start with the toppling of Jerusalem's kingdom under King Zedekiah, hundreds of years before Jesus' ministry. No, but it was a future event that Jesus was referring to. A future event.
Let's examine two verses to prove this point.
Revelation 11:2 and Revelation 13:5-7.
Revelation 11:2
"But as for the courtyard that is outside the temple [sanctuary], cast it clear out and do not measure it, because it has been given to the nations, and they will trample the holy city underfoot for forty-two months." (NWT)
Also,
Revelation 13:5-7
"And a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies was given it, and authority to act forty-two months was given it. And it opened its mouth and blasphemies against God, to blaspheme his name and his residence, even those residing in heaven. And there was granted it to wage war with the holy ones and conquer them, and authority was given it over every tribe and people and tongue and nation." (NWT)
We can see in the above verses, the "Gentile Times" or "appointed times of the nations" that Jesus referred to in Luke 21:24 was pointing to a future event spoken of in the book of Revelation. Jesus was referring to a future time when God's Name People, Mystery "Israel" of our modern-day times, Jehovah's Witnesses in their entirety, would be severely disciplined for acts of wickedness practiced by themselves, fulfilling foretold bible prophecy. (Isaiah 30:26; Jeremiah 23:20; Micah 4:6-7) This specific period of severe discipline would run 42 months or 1,260 days. According to prophecy, only "one-third" of the entire body of Jehovah's Witnesses will survive this ordeal, repent and be saved and given life into God's kingdom. The remaining "two-thirds" who continue to follow the wicked Watchtower Society will be completely destroyed by God at "Armageddon." (See Zechariah 13:8-9; Revelation 16:14-16.)

Well the xxxx just hit the fan with some of my relatives. Two of my uncles who were shunning my parents because they completely stopped going to the meetings, have resigned as elders. Their entire families have admitted they were all scammed. Their kids who are my age were already PIMO and were attending some meetings just to keep their relationship with their parents. But now they are relieved that they can completely stop All JW stuff. They don’t have to hide and pretend anymore.
My other Uncles are digging down and telling them that if they stop serving Jehovah and the end comes, they will die …..forever!
My uncles that resigned told them to Wake UP…. They just admitted that the No Blood Doctrine was MAN MADE, it had nothing to do with God. And they are responsible for all the deaths because it is an organization being run by Scam Artists.

My dad said the news is spreading like wild fire. Some are quitting and others are digging down.
The Older the Jws, …..the more they dig in even stronger.
The ones in their 30s, 40s and some early 50s are questioning what the hell is going on, but haven’t made a decision on what they are going to do.
My uncle that resigned said his phone was being inundated by a lot of the Jws in their hall all night. Him and my aunt haven’t slept since the announcement. He said a lot of Jw (sisters) were crying hysterically. Especially single sisters in their 40s who never married.
The older jw sisters 70s-80s were being smug and telling the younger sister who had broken down to …..Get a hold of themselves and not to be faithless.
So my Dad got one of his brothers and his entire family back, and my mom got one of her brothers and his entire family back. They both apologized to my parents for shunning them.
And my uncle from my dad’s side told me; “I can’t believe you were right all along!”
I still got a lot of family to get out. We’ll see what happens in the months to come.
I think most of the old timers are going to stay faithful to the Watchtower until they are gone, which is the next 10 or 20 years….(70 to 90 age)
The ones who still have a chance of a life, will eventually leave when it finally sinks in what the implications are of changing the blood doctrine.
Remember, the Watchtower is changing the blood doctrine, Not because they love the Members, but because they ARE BEING FORCED TO CHANGE OR DIE!
So they don’t care anymore how many leave, they got 50 billion net worth according to AI, so who cares, as long as governments allows them to continue functioning as a Charitable Non-Profit Organization.

Wow, within a few hours of the announcement, that’s incredible.
Yep it's incredible and at the same time it's great. This is a BIG DEAL for a lot of members Slim. Heck, it's a Big deal for me and I'm not a JW. But I have a lot of relatives that are.
It was a Big sigh of relief when my parents stopped going to meetings. Especially when they torn their blood cards in front of me. But I still worried about other of my relatives who might need a blood transfusion.
A lot of people are angry. Many of them want justice/revenge!
It's not just that the Blood Doctrine is getting reversed, but the implications of what that means. There is a lot of people coming out of the wood work that have lost a child, wife, or husband because they were led to believe the WT was speaking for God. If the No Blood or storage was a command from God, then the other things required were as well, like Marry only in the Lord, Don't associate with Worldly people, what movies to avoid, and so on. Here is another example from exjw reddit from a member who lost his Sister in law who signed the form that says,
"I refuse to predonate and store my blood for later infusion."
It's infuriating and tragic at the same time.

Zechariah 12:3-6
3 It will come about on that day that I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples; all who lift it will injure themselves severely. And all the nations of the earth will be gathered against it. 4 On that day,” declares the Lord, “I will strike every horse with confusion and its rider with insanity. But I will watch over the house of Judah, while I strike every horse of the peoples with blindness. 5 Then the clans of Judah will say in their hearts, ‘The inhabitants of Jerusalem are a strong support for us through the Lord of armies, their God.’
6 “On that day I will make the clans of Judah [Reformer Elders -- Rev 11:3] like a firepot among pieces of wood and a flaming torch among sheaves, so they will consume on the right and on the left all the surrounding peoples, while the inhabitants of Jerusalem again live on their own sites in Jerusalem.
Zechariah 12:5 shows us plainly, the JW Elders ["Clans of Judah"] are unexpectedly, being infused with courage and bravery from the example of the "Inhabitants of Jerusalem" ... yes, these ordinary, rank and file, basic "grassroots" JW individuals in the congregation. Yes, individuals who are surprisingly, not pleased with recent events and activities of the Governing Body. Yes, ordinary Jehovah's Witnesses, who are NOT ... NOT afraid to speak out about Governing Body "clarifications" of recent about the use of Blood. Yes, these JWs, are not afraid to voice public dissent about the new "clarification" on "Blood" from the Governing Body of recent ... their recent "Blood" Policy Decisions. No, these ones are not afraid, of these "Lawless" leading ones at "Bethel" Headquarters in Warwick, NY. And now, they are even voicing their concerns openly, about this appalling situation, in the congregation before all onlookers.
And additionally, they are letting the [fearful, cowardly] Elders, the "Clans of Judah" ... know [to their faces] ... about it. Yes, they now openly, publicly OPPOSE the Governing Body, thus creating ... "Uproar at the Temple" [Isaiah 66:6] over this heinous, despicable, and unholy matter. The Elders must know, what they think of this New Light, this New "Clarification" ... this horrible New "Blood" Policy of the Governing Body, which automatically makes them, the Governing Body, "BLOOD GUILTY" before Jehovah & Jesus Christ, the Head of the Christian Congregation ... since so many faithful brothers & sisters, faithful Jehovah's Witnesses, have actually died ... died ... because of their failure in critical judgment, of these most serious matters. -- See Numbers 35:33-34; Matthew 5:19; James 3:1; 1st John 3:15; 2nd Thessalonians 2:3-12.

I sent a text message to many elders and no one responded, did you do it?
I am writing to you also on this point with great seriousness, because it is not just a matter of theology, but of responsibility before God and before real lives.
You speak to me of trust and integrity, but in light of what I have read and what was taught in the past, I must tell you that the behavior of the elders, and of the Governing Body in general, seems to me to be extremely lacking in true responsibility.
When a human interpretation of blood is used to impose a rigid discipline that leads people to refuse transfusions even in situations of serious risk to life, you are playing with people's lives, not just their consciences.
And if today you admit that pre-depositing one's own blood is a matter of conscience, why was it presented yesterday as "contrary to God's law"?
If the change is so drastic, then that rigid line did not come from God, but from an organization that used God's name to impose human decisions, with serious consequences.
I am thinking in particular of the children who appeared on the cover of Awake! dated May 22, 1994, with those smiles, those eyes full of hope, while the magazine spoke of a better future under the new system, as if they were images of a protected life.
One of those children, for a concrete example, was named Adrian Yeatt on the cover of that Awake!, had to choose between his own life and the pressure of a line that had been presented to him as "God's will," and in the end he lost his life because he did not dare to go against what he had been taught. His story is not just a statistic: it is your responsibility because you would have advised, approved, and pushed a child to death—for what?
For something that is now a matter of conscience.
For this reason, I ask you a direct question, but with an open heart:
If you, as someone who follows and supports the Governing Body, truly feel consistent with God, how can you feel at peace knowing that the same line you defended and spread in the past was taught so rigidly that it led children, young people, and adults to refuse to save their lives, while today it is said that certain practices are a matter of conscience?
If those children, perhaps the very one from the cover of Awake! 1994, were here today and asked you:
"And you, who taught us that we must never touch blood, do you feel responsible for the fate that became ours?",
what would you answer?
I am not attacking you personally, but I ask you to face reality:
When God's Word is used to turn human decisions into dogmas, and when those dogmas concern life and death, the responsibility is enormous.
If God does not change, but the "lines" change so much, then those who teach should recognize their own error, not just continue as if nothing had changed.
I, before God Jehovah, can no longer pretend nothing happened. When I see blood used to save lives, and then hear it said that accepting it is "sin," and after years hear that even pre-depositing one's own blood is a matter of conscience, I see man, not God. And you, who support and reinforce the Governing Body's line, do you truly feel at peace with Jehovah if you do not ask yourself whether those rigidities contributed to the suffering and death of people who simply trusted you?
I ask you to pray sincerely, but also to look straight in the eyes, very seriously, at the responsibility of those who teach.
And finally, I tell you this: you and the Governing Body will be judged by God for what you do, for how you use His name, for how you have treated people's consciences, and for how you have presented as His will what was then changed, corrected, and made a matter of conscience.
If you truly feel at peace with Him, then you should feel sincere shame for how people's blood was used as a banner of "integrity," while that same line is now being dismantled from within.

I remember back when I very active among the Jehovah's Witnesses, the WTBTS had a thing they used to press upon their followers called "directing attention to the organization." This was to be done in field service, at the end of the bible study, for about ten minues or so. You were supposed to bring some brochure or literature that spoke of the organization, or you could talk about meeting times, topics at the meetings, etc. Maybe some of you remember this "added" procedure.
Well, back then I used to wonder, 'why are they telling us to do this?'
Anyway, the idea never caught on with me. I just could'nt get into the hang of it for some reason. Which leads me to this question,
Should Jehovah's Witnesses proudly "put faith in" and/or shamelessly tell the world they attribute actual "salvation" to their organization? Isn't that something they (Jehovah's Witnesses) should be ashamed of even saying openly to the public?
Here are a couple of examples:
The cover of the March 1st, 1979 Watchtower magazine boldly proclaims,
“Put Faith in a Victorious Organization!”
Then too, the accompanying article repeatedly drives home the theme of having faith in the organization by saying:
“Faith in Jehovah’s theocratic organization... Did the remnant of spiritual Israelites and their theocratic companions, the ‘great crowd’ of Christ’s ‘other sheep,’ have such victorious faith? Yes!... Witnesses have kept their faith in Jehovah’s organization.” (p 18)
The article poses the question, “Is there any cause for us to lose faith in Jehovah’s visible organization...?” The answer is given, “Absolutely Not!... Our unwavering faith will be rewarded with victory and the crown of life.”
Did you get that?
The Watchtower Society teaches that Faith in the Organization will be rewarded with eternal life!
The same was stated in the November 15th, 1981 Watchtower magazine, p 21, where it says,
“Come to Jehovah’s Organization for Salvation”
That's right. We can get "Salvation" not from Jehovah God...not from Jesus Christ, but from Jehovah's Organization!!! (Please compare Rev. 7:10)
Did you know this???
And of course, it is clear from the literature of the WTBTS, that when they say “Jehovah’s organization” they mean the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of Brooklyn, NY. Under the Watchtower Society's insidious indoctrination, faith in God and His Son Jesus Christ becomes faith in the Watchtower Organization. (Please contrast John 14:1 to what the Watchtower Teaches on this point.)
Doesn't this mean, Jehovah's Witnesses are wickedly advocating "putting faith in" the Jehovah's Witnesses Organization and worse, shamelessly attributing actual "Salvation" to the Jehovah's Witnesses Organization? (And, they seem to be proud and very happy to tell you all about this. They even give it a special name: "directing attention to the organization")
Is that who Revelation 7:10 says we "owe salvation" to?
How do Jehovah's Witnesses justify such a stand? Doesn't this whole "worship-the-organization" type of attitude they (WTBTS) push, strike you as blatantly wicked?
