Basic Truth #21 - Hope For Dead Is Resurrection

In God's original purpose, there was no need for any resurrection, because there simply were not going to be any dead. The first human pair had God's blessing and they were told to fill the earth. They were not to die, but to enjoy continued life in a perfect paradise home.

However, by their deliberate disobedience to divine law, Adam and Eve's sinfulness ruined the hope of living forever for themselves and all of their offspring. Because sinfulness and death extended to all of Adam's offspring, the need for a resurrection then became the only hope for billions of humans that have died.

At 1 Corinthians 15:20-22, it says: "But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep. For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive."
Revised Standard Version

Also, John 5:28,29 says: "Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear his voice and come forth, those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of judgment."
Revised Standard Version

In addition to the scriptures telling us of the hope of a resurrection, we also have Bible accounts of resurrections which occured in the 1st centruy, the foremost one being Jesus resurrection.

The resurrection hope is truly a wonderful provision of our loving God, Jehovah.
