Jehovah's Witnesses and the Date of 1919

Jehovah's Witnesses And The Date of 1919

Jehovah's witnesses have been taught for many years now the date of 1919 itself, is a highly significant date in bible prophecy. They teach in that particular year, Jesus Christ performed a unique "inspection" of all the church organizations and religions upon earth, to see which one was faithfully discharging their responsibilities before him, as true christians in this world. After this intense "inspection," its believed Jesus Christ rejected all of the aforementioned religions and instead decided in favor of the International Bible Students headed by the Watchtower Society, that they should receive the promised appointment over "all his belongings," as the "Faithful & Discreet Slave" of Matthew 24:45-47.

Of course, such a teaching and belief, leaves itself open to many, many questions and thoughts for meditation, wouldn't you say?

For example, if such a teaching were true:

Wouldn't Jehovah's witnesses be saying that up to the year of 1919, there were many different groups existing in the "christian" covenant, yes at the SAME TIME that Jehovah was dealing with? Yes, that group would include all the many religions of christendom and the International Bible Students (who later became Jehovah's witnesses in 1931) of that time...all lumped together, isn't that true?

However, we must ask, how is such a thing possible?

Actually from diligent study of the bible, we know Jehovah God only deals with ONE GROUP that He designates as His people during one period of time, and not many religions with differing beliefs. At least that is the pattern that was set with the nation of Israel. Even though we know the Watchtower Society has actually taught this 1919 doctrine for many years now to Jehovah's witnesses, some 6.5 million strong in over 100,000 congregations, nevertheless doesn't this type of thinking seem convoluted to you? It certainly does to many, who are now pondering such thoughts.

Also consider this. If the 1919 teaching mentioned above were true, then wouldn't that be saying in essence, the many churches of christendom (or those religions who profess belief in Christ around the world) itself were actually considered true christians to Jehovah and were acceptable worshippers of Jehovah, PRIOR to 1919?

Actually, this is another impossible thought, because we know these church organizations themselves have never worshipped Jehovah but their god is Jesus or some triune god, isn't that so? Isn't it true, the trinity teaching, hellfire and many other teachings make it impossible for the many religions of christendom to have gained a favorable standing with Jehovah God, the God of "exclusive devotion" at anytime? (Exodus 20:5)

Finally, we must consider one more vital point. Again, Jehovah's witnesses believe the churches of christendom actually became officially "apostate" and were completely rejected by Jesus, again in the year of 1919. However, please consider this:

Isn't it true, these churches are no different today than they were in 1919, and AFTER 1919, and even much earlier in 325 CE when they organized themselves under Constantine as the state religion of Rome? Isn't that true?

So this teaching of the Watchtower Society and Jehovah's witnesses then, actually doesn't hold up to biblical scrutiny -- no, it does not "hold water," as they say, at all.
